President Obama
In 2016, President Obama and his family made history when they hosted a high school prom at the White House. The President and First Lady danced with the students, and the event was a huge success. This act of kindness was just one of the many reasons why President Obama is beloved by the American people.
Daughters’ prom
It’s been more than a decade since President Barack Obama was first sworn into office, and during his time at the White House, he made sure to make some special moments with his two daughters, Sasha and Malia. One of those moments came in May 2016 when he and First Lady Michelle Obama hosted Sasha and Malia’s high school prom at the White House.
The Obamas were all smiles as they greeted the students who arrived at the White House for the big event. Sasha and Malia were also joined by their dates for the evening, as well as some of their girlfriends.
The group posed for a photo in the Grand Foyer of the White House before heading off to enjoy the rest of their evening. It’s safe to say that it was a night that these students will never forget!

President Trump
President Trump caused a stir when he hosted his daughter’s prom at the White House. While many people thought it was a sweet gesture, others felt it was inappropriate. What do you think?
Daughters’ prom
President Trump was not the first president to host a prom at the White House, but he is the most recent. In May 2017, Trump’s daughters Ivanka and Tiffany had their senior proms at the White House. Reportedly, about 300 students from Washington, D.C.-area schools attended the event.
Prior to Trump, President Bill Clinton hosted a prom at the White House in June 1996 for about 200 students from District of Columbia public schools. The event was organized by “Parents Prom,” a group that aimed to provide safe and affordable proms for students in the D.C. area.
Here’s a list of other notable things presidents have done with their daughters while they were living in the White House:
-President Obama took his daughters Sasha and Malia to an Arcade Fire concert in 2009
-President George W. Bush took his daughters Barbara and Jenna to see Ride The Ducks in 2006
-President Clinton took his daughter Chelsea horseback riding in Yellowstone National Park in 1995
Mar-a-Lago
President Trump has come under fire for hosting his daughters’ prom at Mar-a-Lago, his private club in Palm Beach, Florida.
Critics say that it is inappropriate for the president to use the club for personal gain, while others argue that Trump is simply providing a unique and memorable experience for the students.
Trump has defended his decision, saying that Mar-a-Lago is “a very special place” and that he wants to give teens “a night they will never forget.”
President Clinton
In 1996, President Clinton hosted his daughter’s prom at the White House. This was a first for any president and was seen as a way to connect with American families. Some saw it as a publicity stunt, but the Clintons saw it as a way to show that they were just like any other American family.
Daughters’ prom
It was a moment that any father would be proud of: President Bill Clinton standing in the White House Rose Garden, surrounded by his wife and two teenage daughters, who were both dressed in elegant gowns. It was the spring of 2000 and Chelsea Clinton’s prom was about to begin.
The Clintons had decided to host a prom for Chelsea and her date, as well as for about 30 other couples from Washington-area high schools. The event was held in the White House Rose Garden, with a band playing throughout the evening.
It was a beautiful event, and a definite once-in-a-lifetime experience for the students who attended. President Clinton even took time to dance with each of the girls, including Chelsea’s friends. It was truly a night to remember!
